Wilson's 2nd and 5th grade buddies met up to set goals for the new year. Those goals include books they want to read, areas where they will try harder, and things they want to learn in 2023.

Biologist/author David Good visited WHS to share his story of reuniting with his long-lost mother in the Amazon in 2011 and rediscovering his indigenous roots. Good also spoke about the importance of protecting indigenous cultures. https://www.westfieldnjk12.org/article/952950

6th graders in Mrs. Morrison and Ms. Miller's math class use technology and math skills to simplify variable expressions, recording their answers according to specific directions. For each correct answer, an image appears on the screen, with a completed image by activity's end.
Mrs. Pisano's class at Jefferson celebrated the winter holidays with personalized “compliment presents” to spread kindness and cheer. Each student wrote 6 notes on the paper "presents" and also received 6 from their peers. This activity helps promote positive classroom community.
Lincoln students have delighted in the many winter-themed lessons and are making great connections to their experiences outside of school.

Jefferson 1st and 2nd grade buddy classes teamed up to create sock snowpersons, following step-by-step directions using a sock, rice, rubber bands, and other colorful items.
McKinley 1st graders entertained schoolmates and family members at a recent winter holiday singalong.
Edison and Roosevelt students and staff recently took part in a "No Place for Hate" signing, pledging to speak out against hate and prejudice while collectively agreeing to work to create a school environment where all individuals are treated with respect and dignity.
Our elementary students and staff love the annual holiday visits from Edison and Roosevelt student musicians and their instructors. So festive and fun!
Second graders at Franklin made book recommendations for everyone to enjoy this winter while third graders wrote step-by-step instructions for making s'mores as part of their non-fiction unit.
Members of Roosevelt's "One Student Body" Club meet after school with advisor James Lane to create additional country flags for an existing cafeteria display of all of the nations representing the heritages of students and staff. Such diversity!
