
Students in Mrs. Morris' class combined reading practice and performing during their first Reader's Theater experience.



Students in Mrs. Venturino's class worked collaboratively on gum drop structures. Then they applied what they have been learning in math to calculate the volume.





Here are just a few of the wonderful costumes Wilson students and staff wore during our Halloween parade.










The creativity of Wilson students and families was on display during our annual Pumpkin Fair. Thank you to the PTO volunteers who helped organize this wonderful event.











Students in Ms. O'Neill's class are learning about hydroponics. Thy used soda bottles to plant lettuce without soil. This week they continued to make observations in their journals on how these plants are growing and they have been excited to see some that are really starting to get very leafy.






Students in Mrs. Schreier's class used words and pictures to complete their heart maps. This was the first step in brainstorming ideas for their personal narratives.








Mrs. Ciampa read the book "The World Needs Who You Were Made to Be" to her classes. This story emphasized our school's message about respect and celebrating differences. Each student then decorated their own hot air balloon, like the characters in the story. Now our gym is filled with beautiful designs, each as unique as our students.

Wilson students ended the week with a visit from Captain Carl and members of the Westfield Fire Department. They learned about fire safety and were given a homework assignment: remind their families to check that the smoke detectors are working properly.





In Ms. Christie's class, students are practicing problem solving and teamwork while working in small groups to create unique communities. Each community needs to include places where people live, work, and play.



Students is Mrs. Venturino's class are currently exploring the novel, Rain Reign. In the story a hurricane hits and creates havoc for the characters. To expand their knowledge, they researched and created informational posters about hurricanes, during this cross-curricular experience.






Students and staff showed their support for Week of Respect by dressing in honor of our spirit days. They wore jerseys to show they are "team respect" and unique outfits to demonstrate how Wilson embraces differences.






Wilson families came out in red and celebrated Walk and Bike to School Day. Congratulations to our raffle winners, Will, who walked to school with Principal Marsh and Student Support Counselor Uveges and, Freya, who walked to school with Superintendent Dr. Gonzalez.









Second grade students performed a variety of locomotor movements using scarves as the manipulative during PE class. This helped develop their hand-eye coordination and fine motor control as they threw and caught the scarves with partners.

Wilson students and families didn't let the rain "dampen" their spirit as they came out to enjoy our PTO's fall movie night.







Wilson students participated in an assembly with Dr. Recess to learn engaging, collaborative games to play during recess.







In the art room at Wilson, they began with a school-wide collaborative, which is on display in the main hallway. Young artists were buzzing with excitement to “Bee Kind” “Be Respectful” and “Bee Positive” as they each made a honeycomb drawing to contribute to our mural.



Buddies in Mrs. Kasemeyer and Ms. O'Neill's classes met for the first time. They completed an interview activity to get to know one another and set a foundation for their collaborative work this year.







Ms. Graziano's scientists took advantage of the beautiful weather to head outside and practice their observational skills. They took note of the different characteristics of our school's trees.
