Wilson welcomed author, Audrey Vernick, for Read Across America Week. She reminded students that ideas for a story can be anywhere such as putting a character into an unexpected place. She also encouraged students to write their ideas down. Mrs. Vernick keeps hers in a special bowl.

February is National Children's Dental Health month. Our first graders had two special visitors from Westfield Pediatric Dental who taught them how to keep their teeth and gums healthy. Then they connected it to math by graphing the varying amounts of teeth different animals have.

Wilson fourth graders took a trip to the Westfield Memorial Library to visit the African American History of Westfield Pop-Up Museum. There they learned about Westfield's connections to the Harlem Renaissance and the history of the Brightwood Park neighborhood, amongst many other things.
