Ava, Teddy, and Elliot made a whole school announcement for National Speech and Hearing Month, along with their teacher, Mrs. Lewis-Styler. They talked about what stuttering is, how to help someone with a stutter (be patient, give them time to finish, listen to what they are saying, and don't finish their sentence). Also, some famous people who stutter are Tiger Woods, Ed Sheeran, Emily Blunt and Paul Duncan (only a little famous in the halls of Franklin!).

It's Field Day at Franklin!

Ahana Sharma was selected as a winner in the Earth Day poster contest! Congrats Ahana and thank you to everyone who participated!

Classes learned about Earth Day this week. 1-H had some fun and also took time outside to pick up litter on the Franklin property.

We had another great assembly sponsored by our PTO today! Bash the Trash is a group of musicians who reuse and repurpose items that others don't need anymore "trash" to make their own instruments. With Earth Day happening tomorrow, they weaved the message of the "three Rs" (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) into a fun assembly and sing along. They explained how they made their instruments and also taught students about how to create sound from their instruments. They played an electric cello made out a tin can, a guitar made from an attache case, a conch shell, and an instrument made out of styrofoam and rubber bands It was super fun and super informative!

Thank you to all of our families for helping to ensure students wore their grade level t-shirts today! We took the panoramic photo with the whole school (which you can purchase). Here are the 5th graders who made a peace symbol as we snapped a picture for their yearbook!

WHS students provided our 5th graders with an informative assembly about the No Place For Hate program that exists at the intermediate schools and the high school.

Thank you to our PTO for organizing another great book fair! They also raffled off a collection of books to two lucky winners!
