The Pumpkin Fair Poster Contest entries are now in to the office and being reviewed my Mrs. Davenport. We love how excited our students are about the contest and the Pumpkin Fair. We know our parents play a huge role in shaping their child's focus on school participation. That excitement is infectious. Thank you to everyone for helping to make Franklin a special place to be!
3-D was on the floor having fun with Mad Libs style adjective activities. We are always looking to keep students engaged with fun activities while also fostering good collaboration and social skills.
Today was our first day hosting Kean University students who are teachers in training! These juniors are observing in classrooms once a week until their semester ends in December. The goal for them is to get a feel for all of the ins and outs of teaching that can't be learned in a textbook. These field experiences are a vital part of their preparation for their daily student teaching next year. Partnerships with local universities also help us stay connected with all of the new and exciting innovations that's universities are focused on.
Thank you to our PTO for organizing our Food Days program! We have student leaders, our "Lunch Helpers", deliver the food in baskets to classrooms. Parent volunteers help organize the food when it's delivered and oversee all of the hustle and bustle!

Stamina! This is the week to talk about stamina. Here is a visual in a 1st grade classroom where they are actively working on building their reading stamina which is vital to our reading routines. Students in 1F are reading and sharing their ideas about their books with each other. Also of note, this is our first full week of school. Expect tired students, especially in the younger grades. They've worked hard all week! They should take the next three days off!

The weather has been so nice! Students have enjoyed our outdoor classroom all week!
After 1st graders arrive, unpack and have circle time, they focus on phonics. We use Heggerty and Fundations resources to provide a comprehensive instruction and support system for our 1st graders. These multi-sensory approaches help give students the foundation they need for reading success. Teachers are always on the lookout for students who are closely following the daily routines which are vital to their success--awarding a student or two each day their Heggerty Hero bracelets!

Join us in celebrating Happy Hispanic Heritage Month! 🌎✨ From September 15 to October 15, we honor the rich history, culture, and contributions of the Hispanic and Latino communities.
Thank you to the PTO for sponsoring the annual Welcome Back Coffee at the outdoor classroom. It was a great chance to catch up and meet new people. They also promoted "Franklin ReWears" that has started a new t-shirt exchange.
What's the best part of you? These activities give students a chance to think about themselves in a positive way while also helping each other get to know each other better! Teachers sprinkle these activities throughout the first few weeks to help launch the school year.
