The votes are in, the bracket is complete, and we finally have a champion in our March Madness of Coping Skills! After 476 votes were counted, there were only 8 votes separating our champion and runner-up. Franklin’s favorite coping strategy is............ Listening to Music!
This strategy beat out 15 other coping skills to take the top spot. Listening to music can be a powerful way to support your mind and body. It can help calm your nervous system, lower stress, improve your mood, and even give your brain a break when things feel overwhelming. Whether it’s a quiet, calming song or an upbeat favorite that helps you reset, music can be a great tool when you need to manage big feelings.
We hope everyone learned about some great strategies this month and maybe found a new personal favorite. Keep using what works best for you each day! Franklin School Rocks at Coping Skills!

4th-graders, as part of our ongoing enrichment program, recently participated in a Lego engineering challenge where groups collaborated to design and build custom islands. Midway through the project, a "natural disaster" struck, requiring teams to pivot and engineer new features to protect their builds. The students demonstrated impressive creativity and teamwork as they solved these unexpected problems together.

Thank you to our PTO, our VPA Supervisor Shawna Longo, and the Westfield Coalition for the Arts for sponsoring this amazing assembly with Mark Kistler. Our students were amazed by how helpful he was at teaching them drawing skills. If they want more, he's on YouTube and at markkistler.com. He has tons of drawing videos. Thank you also to Mrs. Davenport who requested we find a way to bring him to Franklin! What a way to culminate Youth Art Month!

Community Service Night is always a wonderful evening that's about giving to others. It's also a great chance to provide leadership opportunities for our older students. Future Franklin students and former Franklin students also pitched in for a true community event. Thank you to our PTO for making this event a success, year in and year out!!

How might you design a trap to capture a leprechaun? St Patrick's Day gave many of our younger students a chance to figure that problem out. They tried their best but there was no luck at Franklin School this year! Leprechauns left behind their green glitter and nothing else!

While most students prefer outdoor recess, indoor recess is a good time to relax with classmates. A game of cards, Jenga or creating something with Legos is always fun! Some students used their time today to create posters for the Earth Day poster contest!
