"Say 'Hello' Day" is a chance to strengthen our Franklin community. Students and staff all wear name tags to encourage everyone to 'say hello' using people’s names. This is not only fun but we think that the more people you know by name the more comfortable you will feel at school which will help you feel like you belong!

The PTO sponsored Habitat Garden Club had a perfect fall day for their activities. Students searched for a variety of elements to make a cool bookmark. They were tasked with finding something colorful, soft, crinkly and pokey. Mission accomplished!

One important goal for the district is to be constantly striving for greater inclusivity. That can involve so many things but a big one is access to the building and the school grounds. The district just added a new sidewalk to our habitat garden for easier access.

Mrs. Rygiel held a Safety Patrol lunch meeting to discuss the many roles and expectations of these student leaders. We are thrilled with the huge number of students who volunteer their time to be role models and an extra set of caring eyes during arrival and dismissal. One burning issue from these leaders, what do we do when people don't listen? This makes us chuckle. We remind them that they themselves don't always listen. People often don't listen the first time. We tell them to be patient and try again. Eventually, most people will get the message. There is so much vital life skill learning for students who take on these roles!

The Westfield Fire Department visited today and reviewed basic safety tips for a house fire. They reminded everyone to leave the house quickly when they hear an alarm and don't go back into the house for pets (the fire department will get them). They also showed what a firefighter in full safety gear looks like so they won't be scared if they see one during a fire.
