Edison School students participated in our annual Veterans Day Assembly. During the assembly, students listened to the reading of poems, wonderful singing by the 8th grade chorus, and amazing music played by the 8th grade band. Keynote speaker, and veteran, EIS Science Teacher Chris Wiley, address all students about the importance of speaking to and learning from America's veterans.

This week, students in Edison School's Spanish classes displayed their projects related to the cultural holiday of Dia de los Muertos. Students' projects included either visual or written reflections about a loved one, pet, or notable person they admire.

The Edison School Student Government Association (SGA) is hard at work preparing for Halloween. The SGA is selling Boo-Grams in the cafeteria this week. Students can send a kind message and piece of candy to be delivered to their friend's homeroom on Halloween. Students are also encouraged to submit an entry for the annual Edison Pumpkin Decorating Contest.

Some great work is taking place in Edison's ELA classrooms. Our 8th grade students in Ms. Ciampa's Language Arts class are hard at work as they compare multiple read texts to develop their own analytical essays.

Eighth grade students in Edison's TLRNC (Teens Learning Respect and Compassion) peer leadership team took part in leadership training today. Students, who were accepted into the peer leadership program, engaged in a full day of team building activities to prepare them to work with our sixth and seventh graders during Advisory lessons.




On Columbus Day, Edison Intermediate School teachers engaged in professional learning to further develop the learning experiences provided to their students.

The Week of Respect is in full effect at Edison Intermediate School. Tuesday's challenge was for all students to be inclusive and demonstrate great teamwork. Students wore a team sports jersey to show we are all, at EIS, on the same team!
October 2 is National Custodian Day. We're grateful to these dedicated professionals who work hard to keep our buildings and grounds clean and safe. When we asked students if our custodians are superheroes, the answer was a resounding "YES!" https://youtu.be/wp716Z8C2Vo

This morning all EIS students took part in their first Advisory lesson of the year. Each month we take time in Advisory to provide students with learning experiences related to character education and social emotional learning. Today, students engaged in the first lesson of our new Character Strong program. Students and teachers participated in discussions and activities around the themes of well-being, belonging, and engagement at school.
