The Edison Intermediate School 8th Grade Band, as well all of our music groups, have been rehearsing for months in preparation of their annual winter concerts. This evening's concert is a double feature. We begin at 6:45pm with our 8th Grade Band, 8th Grade Chorus, and 8th Grade Orchestra. These groups will be followed at 8:15pm by our audition groups: The Symphony Orchestra, Broadway Singers, and The Edison Jazz Band.

Students in Mrs. Friar's Technology, Engineer, & Design class are working diligently. This week's challenge is to design and construct a roller coaster that meets multiple criteria, including carrying a marble for at least seven seconds. Through this project students learn the engineering design loop as well as essential strategies to work effectively within a group.

While the EIS Yearbook may not be distributed to students until late June, the preparation of the yearbook truly takes the entire year. Our yearbook club works during the early morning, before school begins, throughout the year designing and constructing the Edison Yearbook. Thank you to Mrs. Vezos, Mrs. Valdes, and the entire EIS Yearbook Club for all of their hard work.

Congratulations to our Period 3 Badminton Champs! In physical education classes this week, students are applying all that they have learned during their badminton unit as they compete in class period tournaments. Throughout the unit, students learned the various rules, skills, and strategies to have a fun and competitive badminton match.

Edison School students participated in our annual Veterans Day Assembly. During the assembly, students listened to the reading of poems, wonderful singing by the 8th grade chorus, and amazing music played by the 8th grade band. Keynote speaker, and veteran, EIS Science Teacher Chris Wiley, address all students about the importance of speaking to and learning from America's veterans.

This week, students in Edison School's Spanish classes displayed their projects related to the cultural holiday of Dia de los Muertos. Students' projects included either visual or written reflections about a loved one, pet, or notable person they admire.
