Our third grade scientists are investigating the question: What happens when water hits different surfaces?
Working in partnerships, students are conducting experiments, making observations, and collecting evidence to explore how water behaves on a variety of surfaces. Through hands-on investigation and collaboration, our Wildcats are thinking like scientists! 🧪🐾

📚🍽️ A Feast for Readers! 🍽️📚
Ms. Roughley’s fourth grade class enjoyed a special Book Tasting experience! Donning her chef’s apron, Ms. Roughley served up a wide variety of books and invited students to sample the “flavors” of different authors and genres.
What a terrific way to build reading engagement, curiosity, and a love of books! 📖✨

💡⚡️Our fourth graders put their knowledge of energy to the test with a hands-on investigation: Can we light a bulb?
Working together, students experimented with batteries, wires, and bulbs to discover what it takes to create a complete circuit and make the bulb glow. Through collaboration, problem-solving, and a little trial and error, our scientists were learning that energy is something we can investigate, test, and understand!

Join us in celebrating Happy Hispanic Heritage Month! 🌎✨ From September 15 to October 15, we honor the rich history, culture, and contributions of the Hispanic and Latino communities.

Our second graders activated their prior knowledge about seeds and plants as they explored what they already know about how plants grow. Through thoughtful discussions, observations, and hands-on learning, students connected their ideas to new discoveries about the plant life cycle. 🌿✨

Our first grade students had a little extra sparkle in their learning! Using glow sticks, students compared the letters in their names and discovered what makes each name unique. They also used watercolors to reveal secret messages from their parents—a fun surprise that made learning feel extra special! 🎨💙

Our fifth grade readers are building their reading lives by slowing down and thinking deeply about what they read. Students are annotating important details, making thoughtful inferences, and using evidence from the text to support their thinking.
We’re not just reading the story - we’re thinking like readers, noticing like readers, and growing like readers! 📖💙

Wishing our entire Westfield Public Schools community a happy, healthy, and sweet new year as Rosh Hashanah begins at sundown on September 11, 2026, and concludes at sundown on September 13, 2026.

Today, we join together to remember the twenty-fifth anniversary of September 11, 2001.
We honor the nearly 3,000 lives taken from us, the courage of the first responders, the resilience of our communities, and the spirit that rose up during that time.
