
Last weekend, several band students in grades 6-8 auditioned for the CJMEA Intermediate Region Bands. These are highly competitive groups that have students from all over Central NJ try out. Over 400 students in total tried out. We are very proud of our three students for being accepted into these prestigious group!

Students enrolled in STEM 8 finished up their unit on Board Games. Students developed an original game and made them come to life by utilizing the laser cutter, 3D printer, and a digital design software.





Mrs. Trottere, our Student Assistance Coordinator, taught lessons in the Health classes. She covered two important topics: "How Vaping Nicotine Affects the Teen Brain" for 6th and 7th graders and "The Dangers of Binge Drinking" for 8th graders.


Today Ms. Bennett's 6th grade classes were actively engaged in the Royal Game of Ur. She created brackets for each class and her students competed in a tournament with the goal of being named the Royal Champion. It's history's oldest board game from Ancient Mesopotamia.

RIS 7th Graders and the Jersey Cares Club members took time after school to make sandwiches for our 2 Lunch Tuesday. We are very proud of all involved.


Students in Mr. Perrino's 8th grade Mock Trial & Debate course are preparing for their upcoming trial. Our students and staff are looking forward to their final presentation next week.


Students in Ms. Burke's 7th grade ELA class participated in a "book tasting," complete with tablecloths, french music, and candlelit ambiance, to determine their top 3 choices for the upcoming memoir book club.



Eighth grade Arts and Crafts students are creating a tile mosaic on a glass votive that will become a functional candle holder. We began their creation by viewing a slideshow of mosaics created by various cultures throughout history. Students then created a design and are currently executing their design using tile, stained glass pieces, shells, and beads.


Seventh-grade science students have been creating posters to illustrate how digestion works in a healthy person, highlighting the role of each part of the digestive system. This activity helps students review and reinforce their understanding of key concepts from our metabolic reactions unit.


Members of the RIS Jazz Ensemble, Early Morning Orchestra, and Sharps & Flats toured the northside elementary schools. Their performances were amazing and spread some holiday cheer to future RIS students.


Holiday Spirit Week: Dress Like a Teacher: Great job dressing up as "Mrs. Cassu"!


We are so proud of our Jersey Cares Club. They are all set for 2 Lunch Tuesday!


Students in Robotics learned about gear trains and how they can increase the speed of their robots. The students then design and build dragster robots completely from scratch. They then program their robots to compete in a knockout style head to head race. The winner is the last bot standing! Period 2 races Period 5 for the Grand Championship.



After playing a fun and engaging review game with prizes, 6th grade Science students are ready to take their assessment today.


8th grade students enrolled in Arts & Crafts showcased some of their amazing art work. This work called Literary Origami , is the art of book folding. All pieces were made from recycled books.


As we kicked off our Winter Concert Series, we heard the amazing voices and music from our Chorus and Orchestra groups.
