🎉 This week in Kindergarten, we explored family traditions! Students shared stories about their own holiday celebrations, discussed photos, and recorded their ideas on chart paper 📝. Each child then created a special drawing and labeled it to showcase their family’s unique traditions 🎨❤️. It was wonderful seeing all the creativity and learning about the different ways families celebrate!

✨ Principal for a Day! ✨ One of our most beloved traditions came to life last Friday as Matthew and Nico proudly took the reins as Principal for a Day! 🏫💙 They were hard at work answering emails, making important phone calls, and even introducing the Winter Concerts. We are so proud of the confidence, responsibility, and enthusiasm they brought to the role. Thank you, Matthew and Nico, for leading our school with such big smiles and even bigger hearts! 🌟

Our Kindergarten students are building strong foundations in physical fitness, coordination, and teamwork! 🎉

This week in PE, they played “Make It and Take It,” a fun game that helped them practice throwing a ball underhand and overhand with proper technique. They also explored a variety of locomotor and non-locomotor movement patterns while showing excellent listening, thinking, and direction-following skills.

✨ Kindergarten Writer’s Workshop Highlight! ✨ Today our young authors used sentimental items to inspire their artifacts. 💖 Writers worked hard by drawing, labeling, and using brave spelling to stretch out sounds and write their best. We are so proud of their creativity and effort! 🌟

🌍✏️ Kindergarten explorers went on a global adventure in our library! After reading Penguin on Vacation by Salina Yoon, students reflected on where they would go on vacation and took us on their own illustrated journeys around the world. What a creative way to dive into an author study and spark imagination! 🐧✨

Our Kindergarteners are strengthening their “pointing power” as they read familiar books! 📖✨ By pointing to each word, they’re connecting letters and sounds, building confidence, and discovering the joy of reading. 🌟 Every familiar story helps them become stronger, independent readers!

🦃🎈 Celebrating Thanksgiving🎈🦃 This week, our middle school students partnered with the Early Childhood Center for a special Thanksgiving learning experience. Together, they explored Thanksgiving traditions, especially the magic of the Macy’s Day Parade! Students designed and created their own parade balloons and then proudly marched through the first floor of the ECC, bringing smiles and excitement to all. 🎉

🖍️🦃 Kindergarten Art Spotlight! Today our young artists put their knowledge of lines, curves, and colors to work as they created their very own realistic or imaginary turkeys! From rainbow feathers to zig-zag wings and curly tails, each turkey was a masterpiece of creativity and design. We loved seeing students experiment, take risks, and bring their artistic ideas to life. 🎨✨

💖 Our kindergarten writers are finding inspiration straight from the heart! Students created heart maps—visuals filled with the people, places, and memories they love most. These special maps serve as meaningful sparks for their Writer’s Workshop pieces, helping young authors write from personal experience and emotion. ✏️❤️

✨ Our Kindergarten mathematicians are busy building their number sense! ✨ They’re practicing number formation, using ten frames to show what they know, and even creating their own number stories. Visual directions keep everyone engaged and learning with confidence! 💡🔢🎨

🌿✨ Today our school community came together for a truly special experience with the Thunderbird Native American Indian Dancers! Students were captivated by the stories, songs, and dances that honor nature, animals, and the deep connections among all living things. The dancers shared the meaning behind their beautiful regalia and reminded us of the importance of gratitude, respect, and community — values that unite us all. We are so thankful for this opportunity to learn from and celebrate the rich traditions of Native American cultures. Special thanks to the Lincoln School PTO for sponsoring this event.🌎💫

In our Pre-K classrooms, Choice Time is so much more than play — it’s where learning truly comes to life! 💫 When children explore, build, create, and collaborate during Choice Time, they’re: 🧠 Building student agency by making decisions and following their curiosity 💬 Applying new vocabulary through meaningful conversations and pretend play 🤝 Strengthening social-emotional skills like sharing, problem-solving, and teamwork 📚 Reinforcing academic concepts in hands-on, developmentally appropriate ways Through exploratory play, our young learners become confident thinkers and communicators — taking ownership of their learning one choice at a time! 💕

🍎 Snack Time = Social Growth Time in Pre-K! 🧃 In Pre-K, snack time is so much more than just crunching crackers and sipping juice! Each day, our Special Person provides a snack for the entire class—sparking moments of sharing, conversation, and connection. Tiny hands practice hand hygiene, brave hearts try new foods, and curious minds engage in expressive communication and active listening. Whether it’s asking politely for a snack, offering a friend a napkin, or chatting about favorite fruits, every bite builds confidence and community. 🫶

🌙✨ Our young explorers dove into the mysteries of the night this week in Social Studies! Students studied nocturnal animals—including fascinating creatures like bats and aye-ayes—to discover how they thrive after dark. 🦇🌴 Through this adventure, we also became text detectives! Students were exposed to features of nonfiction texts, from brief articles that shared amazing facts to captioned photographs that brought these nighttime animals to life. 📚🔍

🌟 Learning Through Play in Pre-K! 🌟
This week, our Pre-K students have been exploring the important concepts of sharing and cooperation through hands-on play! From working together on tabletop activities to taking turns and building friendships on the playground, our learners are discovering how teamwork makes playtime even more fun. 💛✨

This week, our young mathematicians explored ten frames using counting bears! We reviewed five frames and discovered how ten frames help us show numbers up to 10. Students practiced placing one bear in each space to represent numbers like 5, 6, and 10.

We wrapped up with a number wheel challenge, where each table showed the spun number in different ways on their ten frames. Such a fun, hands-on way to build number sense and confidence! 💛

🔢✨ In kindergarten, math is all about hands-on learning and teamwork! Students worked in partnerships and small groups to sort and classify objects, building both their math sense and social-emotional skills along the way. Through collaboration, conversation, and curiosity, our young mathematicians are learning that math is more than numbers—it’s about thinking, sharing, and growing together! 💛

🎃🍂 Our PTO-sponsored Pumpkin Patch was a fall favorite! Students enjoyed pumpkin picking, decorating, games, and a festive story time. Huge thanks to our amazing PTO and volunteers for making this memorable event possible! 💛

✨ Partnerships with parents and caregivers make our learning community shine! 🌟 This week, we were thrilled to welcome a parent who shared about Diwali, the Festival of Lights. Students learned about the traditions, colors, and joy that make this celebration so special. By partnering with families, we gain meaningful insights into the many cultures and observances that enrich our school year. Together, we’re helping students build curiosity, respect, and a deeper understanding of the world around them. 💫
