Today is Diwali. It is the Festival of Lights and many of our Indian students celebrate this holiday with their families. Several parents in Mrs. Arkin’s class came to share their traditions with the students. The first graders learned about Diwali and decorated clay lamps. We wish everyone who celebrates Diwali a wonderful time of celebration with their families and friends!

With the help of Mr. Thompson and our 5th grade Green Team, food waste collection resumes this week for our older students.




Our Westfield Fire Department presents the fire safety program to our 1st through 3rd grade students.



In partnership with the Westfield Human Resources Advisory Commission (HRAC), we work to bring our community together. Our students, staff, families and community members draw positive messages on our sidewalks today. Thank you for participating!




During Week of Respect, our students and staff dressed for the occasion. Respect our Earth and our Surroundings - Wear tie dye!



All district elementary teachers are participating in our in-service today. Our Social Studies and Language Arts Supervisors facilitated the professional development on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion “DEI”. DEI teacher ambassadors worked with each grade level team to collaborate on creating common lessons based on diversity mentor texts.




This afternoon, Connie Palmer, a social worker from Imagine, presented to our elementary staff. The staff learned about various types of grief and how to support our students who are coping with loss.




Schools are closed on Monday, October 10. Staff will have an in-service day.

Schools are closed on Wednesday, October 5 in observance of Yom Kippur.
