Special thanks to our 5th grade Early Act members and their advisors for their hard work in making this drive a success!

Class 2A ended their Hispanic Heritage Month celebration with a visit from Ms. Aldana’s mom! They learned about Guatemala and where Ms. Aldana’s mom grew up. Students had a blast creating their own Quetzal and learning about its importance as the national symbol.

October is Fire Safety Month, and we were excited to host members of our local Fire Department this week! Mayor Brindle paid a special visit to the second grade to talk about her role as the Mayor of Westfield and the importance of community. She explained her responsibilities, including helping to make decisions that keep the town safe, clean, and fun for everyone. The students learned how the mayor works with others to improve parks, schools, and neighborhoods. Mayor Brindle also encouraged the students to think about how they can help their community, reminding them that everyone, no matter their age, can make a difference. It was a great way to connect our unit on communities to real life. Thank you to Mrs. Boratto for organizing this special visit for us!

A big thank you to the presenter, Mr. Mike Johnson, from EZ Ride Safe Routes to School Program who visited our 2nd graders for a pedestrian safety program. The students learned and practiced important tips like "stop, look, listen, and wave," and were reminded to "be safe and be seen" by wearing bright colors. It was a great way to reinforce safe habits for all our students. We are looking forward to Walk and Roll to School Day on October 1st!

What a great way to start!

Our New Student Scavenger Hunt was a great success! New students were greeted by the principal and school counselor, and then given a map to explore the building. As they found each location, a teacher greeted them with a school supply item to fill their new pencil case. It was a wonderful way to help our new students get to know the building and staff. They left happy and confident, ready for their first week of school! Our next event which is open to everyone is our Meet and Greet on September 3rd from 2:30-3:00pm.
