Family Fun Night expanded this year to include a "mad science" theme. Students were wowed by different chemical and physical demonstrations.

"Basketball Jones" gave us a visit to encourage us all to be our best selves.
He included students in many of his basketball tricks, but so much more.
Here are a few of his positive messages.
1) Work hard, Take care of each other, Sprinkle in a kind word or two, Say hello
2) Look out, Help out, Do something
3) It’s a mistake, It happens, Stick with it

Another step forward on our playground. The mulch is in!

Now playing: 4th and 5th grade movie night!

Our 2nd graders learned important information on being safe pedestrians on the street. Thank you EZ Ride, Safe Routes to School for coming in!

The 5th grade play, Willy Wonka, started their rehearsals this week! This PTO sponsored event is always a memorable activity for our 5th graders. Students got their roles and conducted their "first read."

More MLK digital art museum!

More photos. Enjoy our digital art museum.

The MLK Day contest was a huge success! Students wrote poems and essays. They could also submit artwork. Here is the prompt for the contest and only some of Franklin's art submissions!
"Let’s make Dr. King’s dream our ultimate end by building bridges to the beloved community.
We would like you to think about your own neighborhood. What can you do as an individual to make sure that your neighborhood is a “beloved community” where everyone,
even people who are different from you, can belong and live together in love?

Our PTO recently purchased so many games and activities for indoor recess in the gym. Thank you! Some 5th graders started a giant dominos configuration that attracted a crowd! Good, fun teamwork!

One of our favorite days of the year! Students from RIS return to perform for our school. We get to see how much our former students have grown up and how much they have progressed in their musical pursuits. They put on a great show and there was a sing along in the end!

Therapy dogs! Dogs, with their handlers, visited this week. Bubbles, Skipper and Maggie were ready to promote relaxation. Happiness ensued. There's something about a fluffy dog in the hallway. This is an optional activity since dogs aren't for everyone, but for those who like dogs, it's a fun and relaxing break from the daily rigors of academics.

Our Student Council leaders researched and wrote announcements about upcoming holidays. Then they announced them over the loudspeaker! Hearing your voice over the loudspeaker can be fun, and a little nerve- racking, but it's also great practice in public speaking. Nice work Student Council!

More celebrations! A read aloud about Hanukkah and menorahs in 2V!

2JP was exploring standard units of measure and some of the history of measurement this week. They cut out a replica of the "first ruler." Then they tried to find something in the classroom that was exactly a foot. Together they discussed if the item was exactly a foot or a little smaller or a little bigger. They also tried to focus measuring from edge to edge to make the measurement accurate.

We are so happy when families come and share their celebrations and traditions. Here are some Hanukkah and Christmas activities!

Thank you so much for your generosity to the children of Sister Pat's Camp, which supports children with cancer and blood disorders. Our 5th grade leaders help organize the gifts.

The day time 5th Grade Chorus and Band put on a great show for our students and staff! Mr. Geyer and Mr. Staluppi and prepared them well!

The 5th grade band and their leader Mr. Staluppi put on a great show!

More progress on Project Playground. The safe rubber surface has been poured. Looks great!
