There is so much generosity and kindness in the Franklin community. So many gifts arrived this week for children at Sister Pat's. Thank you! Our STEAM class called Readers and Leaders is raising money (Pennies for Puppies) to help pay for the costs of training seeing eye dogs! The office was packed with students making announcements to get the good word out on these efforts. We'll accept gifts for Sister Pat's until Monday. Pennies for Puppies is happing all month.

Congrats to our Artists of the Month for demonstrating creativity and excellence in their artwork while also being kind and respectful toward others!

Congrats to our Music Students of the Month for standing out when it comes to respect, kindness, a positive attitude and strong effort in every class!

Readers and Leaders STEAM classes had a visitor today, a puppy being trained to be a seeing eye dog. Jewelry Business 101 also had an open house for parent visitors to come and see their creations!

Orchestra and Chorus rehearsals are focused on getting ready for our winter concerts!

We're having a big arts week and it's only Tuesday! Cupcakes and auditions for Annie Jr. happened on Monday!

Here they are leading the assembly! Amazing job 5th graders! They wrote a skit about using the Buddy Bench, unlocked the "key to good character" by unlocking the word empathy from the pillars of character treasure chest and we gave a big shout out to this Month's Spotlight on Good Character Winners!

Our Student Council Character Committee helped plan and execute this month's character education assembly. They recapped our month on gratitude and launched next months goal which is empathy. Here are some things our students chose to be grateful for.

Our SEL movie day is here. Buddy classes are thankful for their time together!

Third-grade students created a fractured fall artwork in art class. After selecting and sketching a fall-themed subject, they incorporated neurographic-inspired lines by guiding a penny across their paper to encourage slow, intentional mark-making. Once the lines were complete, students rounded all intersections and added color, choosing a background in the complementary color of their dominant hue. These young artists are more than ready for fall! This artwork is displayed in the Franklin Gallery outside our gym/auditorium!

We think this is it! We can't wait until next year!

More photos! So much goodness!

And even more Multicultural Night photos!

More Multicultural Night!

Multicultural night is always a wonderful celebration of our vibrant Franklin School community!!

Project Playground's ribbon cutting was a true community event. The mayor (3rd visit this week for those who are counting), the Chief of Police, the Fire Department, EMTs, The Westfield Foundation, WHS Alumni, Girl Scout Troop 40442, parents, grandparents, teachers, donors and of course our students!!! The Band kicked off the event, followed by our 5th Grade Chorus and a variety of speakers who all helped make our playground more inclusive and fun! Thank you everyone!

Miss Jessica, one of our crossing guards who has
been keeping the corner of Newton and Prospect safe for 20 years has decided to retire. We will miss her so much but we made sure to show our gratitude for all of her hard work and dedication. We gave her a whole-school clap out like we give our graduating 5th graders.

Mayor Brindle always finds time to visit our Readers and Leaders STEAM class!

Anne kept kindness on our minds by announcing World Kindness Day! Being kind makes others feel valued, included, and safe. It's one of the best ways to make our school and community better for everyone!
