Here they are leading the assembly! Amazing job 5th graders! They wrote a skit about using the Buddy Bench, unlocked the "key to good character" by unlocking the word empathy from the pillars of character treasure chest and we gave a big shout out to this Month's Spotlight on Good Character Winners!

Third-grade students created a fractured fall artwork in art class. After selecting and sketching a fall-themed subject, they incorporated neurographic-inspired lines by guiding a penny across their paper to encourage slow, intentional mark-making. Once the lines were complete, students rounded all intersections and added color, choosing a background in the complementary color of their dominant hue. These young artists are more than ready for fall! This artwork is displayed in the Franklin Gallery outside our gym/auditorium!

Project Playground's ribbon cutting was a true community event. The mayor (3rd visit this week for those who are counting), the Chief of Police, the Fire Department, EMTs, The Westfield Foundation, WHS Alumni, Girl Scout Troop 40442, parents, grandparents, teachers, donors and of course our students!!! The Band kicked off the event, followed by our 5th Grade Chorus and a variety of speakers who all helped make our playground more inclusive and fun! Thank you everyone!

Miss Jessica, one of our crossing guards who has
been keeping the corner of Newton and Prospect safe for 20 years has decided to retire. We will miss her so much but we made sure to show our gratitude for all of her hard work and dedication. We gave her a whole-school clap out like we give our graduating 5th graders.

Hannah made this announcement today in honor of Veterans Day. Veterans Day is a special holiday celebrated every year on November 11. Veterans Day began in 1919, after World War I to honor all the brave men and women who have served in our military. Our military includes the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and Space Force. These heroes protect our freedom and keep our country safe. If you know a veteran, be sure to thank them today. Happy Veterans Day! We have various slide shows and books to share with students to help educate them about military service. Franklin is also participating in Cards for Troops. Students are making cards that will be sent to troops thanking them for their service.

Anne is a frequent contributor to our morning announcements. Here she is announcing this month's character trait.
Happy November! It is time to announce our monthly character trait. The November Character Trait is Gratitude, which means choosing to appreciate the people and things in our lives.
Showing gratitude can be as simple as saying thank you to someone who helps you, writing a note to a teacher, or telling a friend you’re glad to have them. You can also show gratitude by taking care of the things you use every day like cleaning up your desk or returning library books on time.
This month, let’s all practice finding moments to be thankful and notice how it makes our school an even happier place to be!
Have a great day, everyone!
