Our elementary school "Wax Museums" are always educational and great fun as students choose a famous person to research and provide a written and oral presentation while dressing the part. Here are Wilson 5th graders.





The Great Kindness Challenge is off and running this week in our elementary schools. Students are doing many kind acts for others while enjoying themed days like wearing a favorite hat to "tip your hat to kindness" or red and pink to illustrate that "kindness grows our hearts."

WHS students in Ms. OuYang's Mandarin classes celebrated the Lunar New Year and shared photos of family traditions. Here's a glimpse.




WHS School Resource Officer Nick Calello recently shared his knowledge and experience in a Q and A session, "Teens and the Law," with students in Introduction to Law class.


Westfield students were among 140 6th graders from 5 school districts at a Union County Gifted and Talented Association event. The amateur sleuths used observations, critical thinking, deductive reasoning, collaboration, and problem-solving skills to solve a fictional crime.






Edison students act out scenarios as they work together to enhance the way they notice, care, and act with empathy towards others, the third in three lessons on understanding and building empathy.



Mrs. Minski's fourth grade class at McKinley is learning about electricity. The children made their own circuits, demonstrating how to light a bulb and make a motor work. The students then tested various materials to see if they were conductors or insulators.



Jefferson principal Dr. Susie Hung visited with 1st graders to share about the Lunar New Year. Students learned about the Chinese Zodiac and the Year of the Rabbit. "We wish everyone happiness, good health and prosperity!," says Dr. Hung.

Students in 8th grade Social Studies classes engaged in conversations about the responsibility of "bystanders" when witnessing acts of hate.


WHS students in Kimberly Leegan's Mock Trial course participated in the Union County "Classroom to Courtroom" program. Superior Court Judge James Hely presided, with 8th graders serving as "jurors." The students ended the mock trial with a Q&A session with Judge Hely.

The Westfield High School Community Service Club invited Dr. González to join in assembling bagged lunches for the Salvation Army. Just one of the many charitable efforts by CSC members and club advisor Zorana Culjak in service to the local community. Thank you!



Students in Mrs. Culjak's Pre-Calculus Honors class used their knowledge of polar equations to represent flowers. They also took some time to make 120 extra lunches to donate to families in need.





Trained docents from Master Tree Stewards of the 4H Club visit Jefferson 4th graders to share an interactive lesson on the importance of tree conservation.




Thanks to the Tamaques PTO, students enjoyed an assembly that combined magic with motivation as magician Chad Juros shared his story of overcoming a childhood illness, emphasizing the importance of perseverance.
