Wilson’s 2nd grade artists took inspiration from the artist Paul Klee to create their own Cat and Bird pieces. "Through the use of bold colors and unique shapes, they brought their whiskered creations to life," says principal Crystal Marsh.




Dissecting owl pellets to study ecosystems and nature's food chains is always a favorite science unit. Franklin 3rd graders recorded their findings in their science journals during this hands-on, project-based lesson.










Our winter concerts are in full swing and sounding great! Rehearsals continue for those still to come. Here's a before-school gathering of McKinley's Grade 5 Band under the skilled direction of Aaron Staluppi, who also plays along as well.


Madame Carrington's French 3 Honors students at WHS concluded the unit "Contemporary Life: Le Voyage" by choosing a region, acting as armchair tourists, and writing a postcard in French, which they shared with their classmates.



Our preschoolers wrap up their day with two special traditions: gathering for a favorite storybook and singing along to Jack Hartmann’s upbeat “Goodbye Song.” Principal Dr. Tiffany Jacobson says: "It’s the perfect way to wind down, reflect, and end the day with smiles and joy!"


Motivational speaker and author Jordan Toma recently visited Roosevelt to share his inspiring story of growing up with learning disabilities. His energetic message to the students: "Your struggle is your strength!" Special thanks to the RIS PTSO for sponsoring his visit.

Our annual Fall Singalongs are always a hit. Here's what it looked like at Jefferson where students in grades 1-4 showcased their musical expertise and dance moves. "We are grateful to have music in our lives," says principal Dr. Susie Hung.

The McKinley community recently celebrated World Kindness Day by donating generously to a PTO-sponsored Coat and Clothing Drive. McKinley principal Mary McCabe adds: "At the end of the drive, some of the 5th Grade students helped to load the donations onto a truck."



Kindergarten students had a blast playing the math game Top It! "This fun and engaging card game helps students practice comparing numbers while building critical math skills. Hands-on learning at its best!" says Lincoln principal Dr. Tiffany Jacobson.

As part of an anti-vaping campaign, our Student Assistance Coordinators (SACs) at Edison and Roosevelt held a poster contest last month, with the theme: Live Clean. Breathe Clean. Skip the Vape Scene. Kudos to the contest winners and thanks to all for their creative entries.

WHS students in Mrs. Dennis’s Biology classes investigated claims about enzymes found in liver, running a series of experiments. Enzymes are part of the biochemistry unit in Biology where students explore the molecules that make up their food and their bodies.



Washington 3rd graders recently investigated and observed the properties of water. They compared how water drops interact with different surfaces, collecting materials in nature, such as tree branches, leaves, rocks, and grass.


On World Kindness Day, Franklin students chalked the sidewalk with messages of kindness and positivity, while Tamaques students wore name tags and yellow to say hello to new friends.
