Westfield High School DECA students had an outstanding showing at the New Jersey DECA State Career Development Conference (SCDC) held this week . The Westfield High School Wind Ensemble performed their annual children's concert which featured Sergei Prokofiev's "Peter and the Wolf". High school students interacted with students from Lincoln School who also got to take an up-close look at all the instruments.

Westfield Robotics competed in the FIRST Tech Challenge Northeast Conference Tournament at Bayonne High School. For the first time in program history, all three Westfield teams made it into the Playoffs, with Team 5968 ultimately finishing in 2nd Place and advancing to the State Tournament!
The counseling department sponsored alternative learning opportunities for students to check out during open lunch. Students learned about ROTC opportunities, alternative paths after high school and union county Vo-Tech options.
Thursday, February 5, was a success. 8th Gr Parent/Guardian Orientation hosted by WHS Counseling starts the high school preparation journey for the Class of 2030!
Thank you to the WHS PTSO for supporting our students during Midterm Exam Break Time with shows, playdoh, coloring, crafting, basketball and dogs! The joy the activities brought gave the students some fun down time between exams each day!
Mrs. Leegan's Holocaust and Genocide Studies Class created a mural to represent the books that they read this semester. Students selected books that were donated by The Westfield Jewish Heritage Project. The Westfield Jewish Heritage Project was created in 2024 for the purpose of enhancing the local Westfield public schools and the Westfield Memorial Library with books of important Jewish and Israeli themes. Students created the mural as a part of the culminating activity for the lit circle project.

6th place overall! 8 out of 12 teams placed in the top ten!! 4 teams received medals!! All that means they are going to states!!

Kristen Sonnek-Schmelz spoke with sophomore health students regarding addiction, prevention and treatments. She shared her story of how her brother, Matthew Toriello, a WHS graduate, passed away in 2019 from an accidental overdose.
The WHS music department welcomed students from EIS and RIS to rehearse for their district performance nights.
The WHS Counseling department hosted "Blue Devil Future Focus", a college & career exploration event , during Tuesday's activity period. 9th and 10th graders heard from a community members working in a career field of their interest, while 11th and 12th graders heard from a panels of recent WHS alumni about their experiences transitioning to life after WHS.
The Jewish Culture and Development Club hosted a Hanukkah Party, which included a dreidel tournament and homemade latkes.
Ms. Kolesar's senior health class used Kazoos to play "Name That Tune" of songs to keep compressions consistent while performing CPR.
