It's just another lunch for us gnomes.

The Day After Halloween Swiper caught in the act.

Our Halloween Parade is Thursday at 9:00 AM on our field. The children should come to school dressed in costumes (no weapons, please). Send a change of clothes so your child can decide if they want to get out of their costumes after their parade and parties.

This is Sean Macarthur, our district's maintenance supervisor. In his spare time, he raises funds for charitable organizations by participating in Polar Bear plunges and supporting local groups such as the Historical Society at their Applefest celebration. Sean makes a mean hamburger. He also lives around the block from Washington School.

Fifth graders are reading to second graders.

Great conversation and coffee during AM drop off at Wilson last week. This week, Dr. G will be at Washington this morning, Franklin tomorrow (Tuesday), and Jefferson on Friday from 8:30-9:30a. Please stop by!

Each year, the second grades make their own tie-dye T-shirts. When I used to tie-dye, you would roll up a piece of the shirt with a fork, rubberband it, and hold it in colored dye. Whoever heard of spray paint tie-dye?! Next, there will be Dick Tracy watches.

One of our own therapy dogs, Skipper, starred on the CBS Morning Show this week. Skipper talked about how much he loves visiting Washington School each day and learning how to read. Skipper can be found each afternoon at the bicycle racks giving out autographs.

Spelling words with cookie cutters and kinetic sand. Texture and tactility added to seeing, hearing, and tracing equal success.

Try your luck with our music teachers' bulletin board. How many can you identify?

Throughout October, we celebrate the enduring legacy and vibrant culture of Italian Americans. We honor their significant contributions to art, science, cuisine, and countless other fields that have enriched our nation's tapestry.

The Grand Opening of the School Store!
School Store proceeds help fund the Washington alumni scholarship (awarded to a graduating senior) and the fifth-grade gift to Washington School.
Fifth grader Maddy Seib named the 2024-2025 fifth-grade school store TRENDY TRINKETS.
Buyers are already lining up for the next school store date: Friday, December 6 during the lunch hour.

Our students help us collect donations for the St. Joseph Social Service Center. Third and fifth graders helped us collect and load the extra lunches this month.

What do you do if your hair is getting in the way of being able to see the book you are reading?
You wear a hairband. What do you do if you refuse to wear a hairband because you are not crazy about how it looks? Your teacher wears one with you.

It will be here before you know it -- the fifth-grade choral concert!

We are so lucky to have these beautiful paintings surrounding our library, and we are so lucky to have an art teacher like Ms. Gildea who can restore these treasures when they need help.

This October, we recognize the resilience, achievements, and ongoing advocacy of individuals with disabilities. We reaffirm our commitment to creating a more inclusive society and celebrate the diverse perspectives and talents that enrich our communities.

Symbiosis: a mutually beneficial relationship between different people or groups

Our friends from the Westfield Fire Department dress up one step at a time in all of their equipment to let our children see what a firefighter might look and sound like if they come to rescue you.
