The Westfield Human Relations Advisory Commission provided buckets of chalk to help inspire kind words all around Franklin School. Having adults in Westfield take the time to support kindness efforts at our school set a great example for our students. Current local leader, Mayor Brindle, was also on and and she met the founders of our Kindness Club (future leaders) pictured below with one of their club's sponsors Mrs. Romano.

Franklin Third graders had a great trip to Ellis Island. This visit was a culmination to their study of immigration.

NO PLACE FOR HATE
Our 5th graders participated in a introductory No Place For Hate (NPFH) assembly that was organized by WHS students. The NPFH program starts in middle school and helps our district educate students about tolerance, respect and combating hate.

POETRY CAFE
Writing is hard work! When students are done making all of their revisions and edits, we like to celebrate their achievements and create an audience for their ideas and creativity. Students in 3-R read their poems in a "Poetry Cafe" setting. It was very hip atmosphere with a darkened room and a spotlight shining on our young poets.

MAYOR BRINDLE VISITS
Mayor Brindle visited our Readers are Leaders STEAM class and discussed women and leadership.

4TH GRADE BAND AND STRINGS CONCERT
With Mr. Staluppi and Mr. Freeman at the helm, the band and strings put on an amazing show for students and parents!
