Our Yearbook Committee is hard at work brainstorming ideas. Students worked alongside their advisors, Ms. Valdes and Mrs. Vezos, to determine the theme and title for the 2025-2026 yearbook.

EIS students are deep into their science investigations. Ms. Herrera's 8th grade science class is studying changes in kinetic energy. Which causes more damage: mass or speed? The students are about to find out!

Today, we had our first school wide assembly for the 2025-2026 school year here at EIS. Students shared their knowledge of the EIS core values (take care of this place, each other, and ourselves), the role of our Peer Leaders, how to be nominated for Student of the Month, and bike safety, to name a few. This is our favorite way to kick off a new school year!

Today, our 8th Grade Peer Leaders took part in a full-day leadership training with the Wingman Movement, a student leadership training founded by Dylan's Wings of Change!
Through engaging activities and team-building exercises, our Peer Leaders focused on creating a supportive group dynamic, explored Edison's school culture and climate, and practiced key facilitation skills with real-time feedback. We're proud of their commitment to making EIS a more inclusive and connected community!

EIS recently hosted an after-school club fair, offering students the chance to learn about and sign up for a wide range of extracurricular activities. The event aimed to promote student engagement and provide avenues for building new skills and relationships.

In recognition of Suicide Awareness Month, EIS students and staff participated in the “Colors of Courage” activity led by our Student Assistance Counselor, Ms. Wilson. Each student colored a shape to represent their current emotion, and together these pieces formed a mosaic poster. The activity reminded us that everyone experiences ups and downs and that it’s okay to talk about our feelings. By sharing and recognizing our emotions, we help build a supportive community where asking for help is a sign of strength: Courage Comes in All Colors.

This week, students attended grade-level meetings to hear from administrators and counselors about expectations for the school year. The discussions focused on how to build a positive school community by showing respect and being a constructive member of the school family.

School Resource Officer (SRO) Bernal also spoke to the students about hate speech. He defined hate speech, provided relevant facts, and explained the serious consequences of engaging in such behavior. Students were highly receptive, engaged, and participated actively by asking and answering questions.

Mr. Lazarow's ELA classes participated in an egg-citing activity! 🥚 Students used their creativity and teamwork to design and build protective houses for an egg drop. The goal? To create a structure that could safely land an egg without a crack. The results were incredible, and we loved seeing all the innovative designs.

Dear EIS Families,

For the safety of our students, staff, and community members, we are asking all families to carefully review the attached color-coded traffic map, created by the Westfield Police Department’s Traffic Bureau.

This map highlights important guidelines to help ensure that our drop-off and pick-up procedures run smoothly and, most importantly, safely. We ask that you take a moment to familiarize yourself with the designated areas and follow the outlined directions each day.

Your cooperation will make a significant difference in maintaining a safe and efficient process for everyone.
