
An in-house Music Festival at Edison with performances by 8th Grade Orchestra, Band, Chorus, Symphony Orchestra, Broadway Singers, and Jazz Band. All of the ensembles received "Superior" ratings from guest judges Cooper Ford, Barbara Retzko, and Dr. Thomas McCauley, who also held brief clinics with the students.

EIS 8th grader Arianna Desai received "Excellent" designation for work she submitted to the 2024 National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) Promising Young Writers Contest. Judges evaluated the writing for expression of ideas, language use, and unique perspective and voice.



As Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month comes to a close, enjoy these snapshots from Washington, where parent volunteers representing the heritages of Indonesia, Taiwan, India, the Philippines, China, Korea, and Vietnam visited classrooms to share the many contributions of the AAPI community.

As part of the district's recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, WHS Student Assistance Coordinators (SACs) and the counseling department held the annual Mental Health Fair, with lots of mental and physical health professionals on hand to share valuable resources.

Sunny skies and smiles at the recent ribbon cutting ceremony for Wilson's new outdoor classroom, equipped with a teaching platform, student seating, and shaded areas. Special thanks to the Wilson PTO for the generous fundraising efforts that made this beautiful space a reality.




Jefferson 3rd graders enjoy a field trip to Ellis Island, touring varied exhibits to deepen their understanding of the experiences immigrants had while traveling to America. They also caught a glimpse of Lady Liberty on the way! Special thanks to the Grade 3 team and the PTO.





Stephen Hill returned to Edison and Roosevelt Intermediate Schools to share his impactful story of drug and alcohol addiction and recovery with our 8th graders and to answer reflective questions from the students.



Wilson students is Mr. Samarco's class work on bold, colorful pieces, inspired by the works of painter Reginald Laurent introduced in art class with Mrs. Collins.




Our elementary Field Days are a great way to combine fitness and fun. Here are a few snapshots from Franklin and McKinley. Special thanks to our physical education teachers and all who help to organize this annual favorite.

Washington 2nd graders visited the Reeves Arboretum to learn more about insects, one of our science curriculum units. Students learned about insect anatomy, life cycle, social structure, and communication. They also got to visit the honeybees who call the Arboretum home.

More congratulations are in order! WHS 12th graders Tage Mehta and Yenjay Hu were recognized at the Union County Superintendents' Roundtable Annual Recognition Breakfast, at which the top two scholars from each high school in the county are honored.


At its May 21 meeting, the Board recognized recipients of the Optimist Club awards (with Optimist Club members extending congratulations as well), along with those who received awards of excellence from the WHS community.
