EIS 8th grader Arianna Desai received "Excellent" designation for work she submitted to the 2024 National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) Promising Young Writers Contest. Judges evaluated the writing for expression of ideas, language use, and unique perspective and voice.
As Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month comes to a close, enjoy these snapshots from Washington, where parent volunteers representing the heritages of Indonesia, Taiwan, India, the Philippines, China, Korea, and Vietnam visited classrooms to share the many contributions of the AAPI community.

As part of the district's recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, WHS Student Assistance Coordinators (SACs) and the counseling department held the annual Mental Health Fair, with lots of mental and physical health professionals on hand to share valuable resources.

Jefferson 3rd graders enjoy a field trip to Ellis Island, touring varied exhibits to deepen their understanding of the experiences immigrants had while traveling to America. They also caught a glimpse of Lady Liberty on the way! Special thanks to the Grade 3 team and the PTO.
Stephen Hill returned to Edison and Roosevelt Intermediate Schools to share his impactful story of drug and alcohol addiction and recovery with our 8th graders and to answer reflective questions from the students.

Washington 2nd graders visited the Reeves Arboretum to learn more about insects, one of our science curriculum units. Students learned about insect anatomy, life cycle, social structure, and communication. They also got to visit the honeybees who call the Arboretum home.
