Westfield High School is proud to announce that senior Grace Matus has been named a Semifinalist in the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Grace is one of more than 16,000 academically talented students across the nation recognized in this prestigious program, representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors. Semifinalists now have the opportunity to continue in the competition for approximately 6,930 National Merit Scholarships valued at nearly $26 million, to be awarded next spring.
To advance to Finalist standing, Semifinalists must meet rigorous academic requirements and submit a detailed application that highlights their academic record, extracurricular involvement, leadership, and personal achievements, as well as confirmed SAT or ACT scores. Nationally, about 95 percent of Semifinalists are expected to become Finalists, with roughly half of those earning the title of National Merit Scholar.
Winners of the 2026 National Merit Scholarships will be announced beginning in April and continuing through July 2026.
