Welcome Back
Westfield Public Schools staff gathered on Tuesday, September 2 for the annual Opening Day Convocation ceremony, followed by a full schedule of professional development sessions in preparation for the return of students on Thursday, September 4.
Superintendent Dr. Raymond González welcomed teachers, paraprofessionals, secretaries, custodians, administrators, and other staff members, including 21 new educators who are joining the district this year.
“There’s nothing quite like the start of a new school year,” says Dr. González. “The excitement and commitment our staff bring to welcoming students back is something I look forward to every year.”
Dr. González expressed his gratitude for the hard work completed over the summer to prepare schools for the year ahead and shared updates on referendum project planning and the integration of AI in the classroom. District administrators also shared updates in the areas of curriculum and instruction, student support services, human resources, finance and facilities and school and community relations.
Board of Education President Robert Benacchio and Westfield Education Association President Kim Pentangelo also joined in welcoming staff back to school.
