Today, Monday, November 2, 2026 WHS recognized four students who have been selected as recipients of the Derrick Nelson “Lift While You Climb” Award.
This award is presented twice each year to students nominated by members of the WHS staff who demonstrate kindness, character, a positive attitude, and a commitment to making our school and community a better place. The award honors the legacy of Dr. Derrick Nelson and his belief that when we are in a position to help someone, we have an obligation to do so. As Dr. Nelson said, “You lift as you climb.”
Congratulations to Sofia Almonte, Sydney Elmquist, Beigiem Knight and Michael Warmington!
Thank you for showing us what it truly means to lift while you climb and for making Westfield High School a better place through the way you support the people around you.
