Food Days are Back! Tomorrow, Monday, September 8, is the last chance to place your order for all of the days you would like your child to receive meals. The next opportunity to order will not be until New Year's Day.

The Washington Elementary School Book Fair will take place on Thursday, September 11th, in the Washington auditorium. The students will have a chance to shop with their class during the school day. The book fair will also be open in the evening during Back-to-School Night for parents to shop.

We love recess! Nothing is better than good weather on the first days of school.
What a Special Time! The first day of school is so exciting for everyone. We all wear our back-to-school outfits and are full of hope, dreams, and butterflies. Some kids laugh, and some cry. And after 74 days of no school, some parents weep with joy.
Meet and Greet gives everyone the chance to locate your classroom, meet your teacher, find your desk, and say "hello" to old friends, all on the day before school starts. It makes it so much easier the next day. This is something our teachers volunteer to do. They come in over the summer so their classrooms can be ready before the day before the first day of school!
We Love Our PTO! Just before Meet and Greet, we all need some energy. PTO to our rescue. What a great lunch we had. It gave us all a chance to catch up on our summers and some extra time to stay in the building and prepare our classrooms.
Chalk the Walk! We gave everyone a piece of chalk as they left Meet and Greet, and ended up with so many inspiring notes for this upcoming school year!

You haven't lived if you haven't traveled our MultiCultural Festival. You will not believe how many countries and cultures are represented in our school. Children trek around the globe getting their passports stamped, answering questions for swag, and sampling foods and sweets that are out of this world. Saturday, October 4, 2025, 2-3:30 pm, in our auditorium.

May Fridel from Passion for Spices shared her enthusiasm and knowledge about healthy cooking, sustainable and locally-sourced foods, and cooking with joy. The culminating activity was air-popping old-fashioned, non-•genetically modified corn, placed in small bags purchased by the PTO and decorated by students for Earth Day.

To celebrate Earth Day, our fifth graders planted vegetables and other greenery in our garden with the help of Master Gardener Beyer and other volunteers. Their adventure concluded with a scavenger hunt for a butterfly bush, orange coneflower, blue fortune anise hyssop, and vivid violet pincushion flowers.

To celebrate Arbor Day, Acting Mayor Linda Habgood read a proclamation from our town council as the forestry division of our department of public works planted an Appalachian Redbud near our library. Town Administrator Jim Gildea told us about Westfield's designation as a Tree City USA community for five straight years.
