Today, Lincoln School held Positive Behavior Intervention & Support (PBIS) booster assemblies to both instruct and remind students of our schoolwide expectations on the playground: Be Safe, Be Kind, Be Responsible. Kindergarten students were full of energy and excitement as they learned fun ways to practice these important habits during recess and outdoor play.
The highlight of the assembly was seeing Principal J dressed as Lincoln Lion, acting silly and playful on the playground. Students couldn’t contain their laughter as Lincoln Lion pretended to run too fast, climb slides the wrong way, and grab balls without asking. But the young learners were eager to step in and teach Lincoln Lion how to play safely, kindly, and responsibly.
Through interactive role plays, students demonstrated waiting their turn, sharing equipment, and putting balls away after playtime. They also led the Lincoln Lion in choral chants about safe bodies, kind words, and responsible actions, showing off their school spirit.
The assembly closed with a calming mindfulness breathing exercise, guided by Lincoln Lion, reminding students to take deep breaths and center themselves before heading out for recess.
Lincoln School’s PBIS booster assemblies not only reinforce positive playground behaviors but also create a fun, engaging experience where students are active participants in learning. Today, our Kindergarteners roared loud and proud, showing that practicing safety, kindness, and responsibility can be both educational and fun!
