School Administrators pose with PTO President and Screen Time Expert

Friday, January 9, 2026 - Last night’s PTO General Membership Meeting offered families an informative and engaging parent program focused on one of today’s most pressing topics: “The Impact of Screen Time & Social Media: What All Parents Must Know (And Do).” Hosted by the PTO Executive Board, the evening began with opening remarks from Patrick Duffy, Lincoln School PTO President, and featured expert speaker Lauren Muriello , a licensed psychotherapist and founder of the Well Being Therapy Center, which has supported thousands of children, teens, and families. Through compelling research, relatable anecdotes, and engaging video clips, Muriello highlighted how screen culture, social media, and Big Tech can influence the developing minds of children and adolescents. Parents gained insight into current trends, the realities of the “social media lifestyle,” and the potential risks associated with increased screen use in today’s digital world.

Equally important, the program emphasized solutions. Parents walked away with practical, immediately applicable strategies for creating healthier technology habits at home, including guidance on smartphone and social media readiness, monitoring tools and parental controls, and ways to teach critical thinking skills around media use. Lauren reinforced the vital role parents play in setting boundaries, maintaining balance, and staying connected to their children in a tech-saturated environment. The 50-minute presentation concluded with an open Q&A session that allowed families to reflect, ask questions, and share concerns. Thank you to our PTO for organizing this valuable event and to all families who attended and engaged in this important conversation.
