Summer 2026 Referendum Projects

Westfield Public Schools has officially launched the first wave of construction connected to the 2025 referendum, with work now underway across seven schools. The initial phase includes five major project areas scheduled over a nine-week period, with a target completion date of August 31, 2026.

Site Work at Washington Elementary School

At Washington Elementary School, crews have begun site work, including the relocation of existing playground equipment and preparation for new play structures and surfacing. This work is being completed in advance of the school’s planned addition.

HVAC Unit Relocation at Franklin Elementary School

At Franklin Elementary School, a rooftop HVAC unit is being relocated from the existing multipurpose room to clear the mechanical space needed for Franklin’s future addition and classroom renovations.

Drive Loop and Canopy Improvements at Franklin

Franklin is also seeing work begin on a new drive loop and canopy, designed to support safer and smoother traffic flow during morning drop-off and afternoon pickup. Because this project followed the same design and bid timeline as the HVAC relocation, both Franklin projects advanced through approvals together and began construction on the same day.

Restroom Renovations Across Three Schools

Restroom renovations are also underway at Tamaques Elementary School, Wilson Elementary School, and Westfield High School. These projects are being completed under one combined design and bid process rather than three separate contracts, allowing the district to coordinate construction efficiently across multiple sites.

Learning Commons Renovations at Edison and Roosevelt

In addition, the district is moving forward with Learning Commons renovations at Edison and Roosevelt Intermediate Schools.

Continuing Updates for the Community

Together, these projects represent the first visible steps in the district’s broader referendum construction plan. As work continues through the summer, Westfield Public Schools will continue to provide updates to the community on project progress, timelines, and next steps.
