Westfield Public School District 1:1 Chromebook Program

The Westfield Public School District provides every student in grades 3-12 with a Chromebook to enhance their learning experience. Parents and students have reviewed and agreed to the District-Provided Device Acceptable Use Agreement, which outlines the terms and conditions for using school-issued devices. According to this agreement, students and their parents/guardians are responsible for any lost or damaged devices.

Chromebook Insurance

We are pleased to offer an easy, online solution to protect your child’s school-issued Chromebook through AKKO student device insurance. Enrolling ensures that you won't incur costs for damages like accidental spills, parts failure, or even theft. This optional coverage is available for students in grades 3-12. Please note that a separate policy must be purchased for each child in your family.

Enrolling and Filing a Claim:

  1. Enroll: Purchase the Chromebook insurance plan directly through the AKKO enrollment portal.  You will need your child's student ID number, which can be found in the Parent Portal, to complete the enrollment process.

  2. Report Damage: If the device is broken, your child should inform their teacher or the school's technology staff.

  3. Replacement: The technology staff will exchange the damaged device for a working replacement unit.

  4. Claim Handled: The Technology Department will handle the entire claim process with AKKO, so no further action is required from you.

Don't wait for an accident to happen—secure coverage for your child's device today. Enroll now!

Chromebook Damage & Replacement Procedure

To streamline the repair and replacement process, the district has adopted a new procedure:

  • Immediate Replacement: Students will receive a replacement Chromebook upon turning in a damaged device.

  • Parent Notification: Parents will receive an email detailing the repair or replacement cost.

  • Payment Process: The repair fee will be added to the student’s account in the Parent Portal, where parents can submit payment via MySchoolBucks. Payment can also be made via check made out to "Westfield Public Schools" and dropped off at the Technology Department at 302 Elm Street.

  • Outstanding Fines: Students with unpaid fees may face consequences under Board Policy 7523, including restrictions from extracurricular activities (field trips, clubs, sports, etc.) and limited access to schedules or homeroom assignments in August.
