Sustainable Design

Sustainable Design is a full-year course that challenges students to design and build models that are environmentally, economically, and socially sustainable. The first half of the course focuses on sustainable design practices, natural resources, and the habits of mind of engineers. The second half of the course requires students to apply what they have learned to design a structure for a specific geographic location using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software, and to build a model of the structure, all while adhering to sustainable design principles. This course is recommended for students who have an interest in sustainability, architectural design, and engineering. An introductory video is here.
