Announcement: Cancellation of Math Midterms
For the 2020-2021 school year, we have determined eliminating intermediate school math midterms is in the best interests of our students. This change provides our teachers and students the opportunity to devote more time to mathematics instruction and conceptual development. Due to the cancellation, changes to the placement process in sixth grade and the recommendation process in 8th grades have been made.

6th grade students: For the 2020-2021 school year only, students will be placed into Pre-Algebra 7 by meeting two of the following three criteria:

  • “A” earned for marking period 2
  • “A” earned for marking period 3
  •  A score of 50 (normal curve equivalent) or higher on the Algebra Aptitude Test
The Algebra Aptitude Test assesses a student’s readiness for Algebra I. This assessment will not require students to complete any additional study as it will ask students to read the questions and apply their reasoning skills. The test will be administered during a student’s math class. Further information regarding the administration of this assessment will be provided at a later date.
8th grade students: For the 2020-2021 school year only, students will be recommended for their geometry course based on their successes in marking period 1, marking period 2, and the Geometry Aptitude Test administered on December 21st and 22nd. Teachers will provide students additional information regarding the aptitude test.
