Welcome Back RIS Family,

As I thought to myself how to address this opening introduction the first word that came to mind was "family". It is a great honor for me to have the opportunity to join this amazing family. Whether you were relaxing on the beach, hanging out with friends or enjoying a barbeque with your family, I hope that you enjoyed your break and are excited about the 2012-2013 school year. As I began meeting the faculty and staff, I completely understand why RIS has been and will continue to be a special place.

Many educators, including myself, believe that your three years of intermediate school are the most pivotal of your educational career. That is why I will always have an open door policy, whether you want to stop in to ask a question, talk about a problem that you are having, or just to say hello, my door will always be open for "family". I can assure you when you walk through the doors to begin the school day, you will be part of something special. RIS will continue to have a warm and safe environment, where students will enjoy learning each and every day.

I look forward to meeting the entire student body and their families and keeping an open line of communication with parents, community members and stakeholders. As the school year moves on, I would love the RIS family to meet my family: my wife, Kristin, an elementary school teacher, and our two boys, Jake, who is four, and Chase who is one. I can promise you that every student at RIS will be treated the same way I would envision my children being treated when they begin their educational journeys.

Again welcome to a new school year and I look forward to working with my new RIS family.

Regards,

Brian Gechtman
