Chamber Music Club Chamber Music is a small group of students musicians interested in exploration and performance of chamber music. Backstage Club Are you interested in working and learning the behind the scenes of the EIS auditorium? If so, join the Backstage Crew Club. We start in September and meet intermittently. See Mr. Altmann for more details. Breakfast, Books, the Beatles and More!!! Breakfast, Books, the Beatles and More, is a gathering of student and staff book lovers of all ages. Come to the library, relax, listen to music and talk about good books you have read. Get a chance to check out new books before they become available for the general collection. See Mr. Cusumano in the library or visit Ms. Lasker. Chess Club Chess Club will meet the first and third Tuesday of the month. See Mr. Parke for more details. Dance Club Broadway Singers This advanced vocal ensemble rehearses two to three times a week before school. The group focuses on all aspects of choral singing and participates in the winter and spring concerts as well as at special performances in the community. The group also participates in a number of adjudicated events throughout New Jersey. Edison's BROADWAY SINGERS have earned top honors at the annual Trills & Thrills event for twelve consecutive years. Fall Drama Be part of the EIS theatrical experience, especially if you're interested in ACTING without the song & dance. Auditions will be held in late September, or you can volunteer to work "behind the scenes" on our crew. Chess Club Chess Club students meet once a week to learn about chess and play games. Once a year a tournament is organized. Continental Math League – 6th Grade Enjoy math? Ultimate Frisbee Club The EIS Ultimate Frisbee Club practices 1-2 times a week (usually on Mondays) in the fall and spring. Club members play home and away games against other middle school teams culminating in an overnight trip in late spring. Backyard Birding ClubThe Edison Intermediate School Backyard Bird Club was started in November, 2005 by a group of students with one thing in common: a love of birds and a desire to know more about these fascinating and beautiful creatures. We have joined together to provide opportunities for observing, learning about, and protecting wild birds and their habitats. Whether you are a seasoned expert or have just discovered the joys of backyard birding, we'd like to have you join us in this enjoyable and worthwhile pursuit! Vegetables will be planted in the fall and spring, with a goal of harvesting some before school ends and taking some plants home in containers to continue nurturing them at home. Parents are welcome; it doesn't matter if you're experienced or just have an interest in gardening. Meetings will most likely be held on Tuesday or Thursday. Please see Mrs. Fico for more information. International Experience International Experience will meet several times during the year and is offered to all students in the Edison community. Intramurals is a great way to start your day at Edison. The gymnasium is open from 7:30 to 8:10 AM every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday morning. The program is available to all boys and girls enrolled at Edison. Activities include indoor soccer, basketball, and floor hockey. The program offers the opportunity to practice skill, play games and enter tournaments. Stop by any morning and see Mr. Kozlowski, Mr. Corey or Mr. Ginex for details. See you there! Jazz Club is an audition group consisting of 7th and 8th grade student musicians interested in exploring and performing America’s native musical form, jazz. The group practices twice a week before school. One World United Service Club The One World United Service Club works to engage students in helping out in their community as well as globally. The goal is that students use their own gifts and talents to make a difference and have fun doing so. Running Club Do you like to run? The Running Club will meet twice a month on Thursdays. Please see Ms. Stone or Mrs. Frees for more information. Science Club Interested in science? Join the Science Club! Science Club will meet the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. See Mr. Parke for more details. Ski Club Do you enjoy skiing? Join the Ski Club with Mr. Lazarow. Meetings will start in late November after school. Stage Crew is your chance to learn how the theater works…learn how to control the lighting and sound system to enhance various kinds of performances. String Emsemble is an audition group consisting of 7th and 8th grade string players who seek an extra challenge. Practice two mornings a week beginning at 7:25 See Dr. Shapiro in 133. Student Government Association Do you want to take an active part in the Edison Intermediate School? If so, the Edison Student Government is for you! We meet the second Monday of each month. Volunteer Service Club The members of the Volunteer Service Club are actively engaged in a variety of service activities planned to make our community a better place for all of us. See Mrs. Ginter in room 210. Yearbook Edison’s yearbook is a demanding, all year project. Students are involved in every area of planning, designing and producing the yearbook from deciding on a theme and choosing the cover art to laying out pages and taking photos.
